After her World Championships win in 2019, Pusarla had finished runner-up in two tournaments – at the Swiss Open 2021 and the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2021. Yesterday she was never in danger, holding a lead all through the match and closing it out 21-13 21-16.
“From the first game I just went for the win and every point mattered. I didn’t take it easy at all. I had to be consistent. Overall it’s been a good week and I’m happy. Every medal means a lot to me," said Pusarla.
“There are some talented young Indian players coming up and I’m sure they’ll do well. It was good to play Malvika. She’s been playing well.”
