The Indonesian, who struggled all through 2025 and whose comeback was derailed by a back injury in January, had to come through the qualifying draw. The world No.51 beat Zhu Xuan Chen, Wang Tzu Wei and Wang Zheng Xing before overcoming Mannepalli 21-19 19-21 21-13 to enter his first semifinal since the Hong Kong Open in September 2024. Ginting next faces Yushi Tanaka and will aim to make his first final since March 2024.
Ginting’s younger compatriot Alwi Farhan also made the semifinals in the top half, where he takes on top seed Li Shi Feng.
Women’s singles saw veteran Nozomi Okuhara holding off the challenge of younger compatriot Riko Gunji, 21-19 21-18; the former world champion will be up against top seed Putri Kusuma Wardani.
