It will be the eighth-seeded Canadian's first meeting with the world No.29 Ubaidaillah. Lai, 21, is chasing his second World Tour title after securing a Super 1000 crown at the Indonesia Open in June.
Reigning world champion Alex Lanier will play Hu Zhe An following Li Shi Feng’s withdrawal.
In women’s singles, defending champion An Se Young opens against Polina Buhrova after fourth seed Ratchanok Intanon and seventh seed Han Yue's withdrawal forced a reshuffle of the draw. Pusarla V. Sindhu was due to face An but will now play Yvonne Li, who has been promoted to the main draw.
